Moodle is a web-based learning management system (LMS). At Davidson, faculty use Moodle to disseminate course materials, encourage class discussion via forums, and collect student work through assignments and online quizzes. It is important to note that Davidson faculty are not required to use Moodle but choose to do so if they feel the tool will facilitate their learning goals.
Students can use any web-enabled device to access the Moodle sites. Courses are provided in a password-protected environment, ensuring student privacy within the class.
How to access Moodle at Davidson
- Open a web browser and navigate to https://moodle.davidson.edu If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you might want to search the App Store for the Moodle Mobile app.
- If you are not logged into Moodle automatically, click on the Log in link in the upper right corner of the page. On the resulting Davidson single sign-on (SSO) screen, click on sso.davidson.edu and enter your Davidson email address and password. Click on the Sign in button to proceed.
- In the upper left corner of your Moodle home page, click on the Dashboard menu option.
- In the middle of the screen, you will see the active courses in which you are currently enrolled. Click on the name of the course you would like to open.
Faculty are not required to use Moodle and their inactive courses will not be visible. Some semesters, you might have four active Moodle courses; other semesters, you might not use Moodle at all.
